Oh, how beautiful ♥️ Axel's house is a dream, a gorgeous old house. Decorated with so much love, we lacked nothing and felt comfortable from the very beginning. The jacuzzi on the roof terrace was the highlight, with its breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. Even before our arrival, Axel provided us with so many tips and information; I've never experienced anything like it. He was a fantastic host, always available if needed. The house's location was ideal for us, with easy access to sights and beaches. We wholeheartedly recommend this house; it's absolutely beautiful. Don't hesitate, just book it, you won't regret it. A truly magical little house in the cutest little town we've ever seen! The view, the 200-year-old stone house, the hot tub, the neighborhood, the friendly neighbors… we totally fell in love with Atsipopoulo! We were there with our 6-month-old baby, and we had read the reviews that said the accommodation was a bit small, so we didn't know what to expect. But it worked out perfectly, and where there's a lack of space, you get a thousand times the charm and warmth. Axel was a great host; he made sure he always had a line of communication with us and gave us the most thorough explanation I've ever seen for an Airbnb. Overall, a truly great experience. And yes, you need a car and you have to get used to the Cretan roads, but that's part of the experience.

Ideal for a lovely getaway for two - lovingly and tastefully furnished and built. Beautifully and centrally located (short distance to the highway and several beaches) in a small, narrow old town street with many very friendly and helpful local neighbors. Tavernas with great food and very fair prices are in the immediate vicinity (Giannikos Restaurant). The highlight is the sea view from the rooftop whirlpool over olive groves. Fresh herbs from the herb garden... simply wonderful. The German-speaking owner is very welcoming and always available, everything was perfectly prepared and very reliable. We'll be back!

We finally had the chance to stay in this beautiful house ourselves for a few days and were thrilled with the peaceful location. The villa is so beautiful. The stone construction means it stays cool, and the rooms are very well designed. The pool and various sunbathing/seating areas are perfect, private, and well located. SMALL BUT PERFECT! We only stayed a few days at the Arkadi Spa and we loved it. Absolutely recommended! We will NEVER forget the heated jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace with its view of the Mediterranean and the White Mountains. We will definitely be back. Next time, though, for several weeks. Communication with Axel in German was absolutely perfect. He gave us many valuable tips, and hosts and guests became friends.

Axel's accommodation was exactly as described, a dream! The apartment was very clean upon arrival and the kitchen was fully equipped. Easily accessible by rental car and a great starting point for excursions. There is a private parking lot about 100 meters away. Many tavernas can be found in the area. The view from the roof terrace is unique. Axel was very friendly and helpful. He had many good tips. Should we travel to this area of Crete again, we would gladly stay with Axel again! Thank you!!!

This was our first time in Crete. Even back in Germany, communication with Axel was seamless. His descriptions were clear and easy to understand from the start. On the day we arrived, Axel personally greeted us and even showed us the small old town of Atsipopoulo, even though it was already late. Axel was always available whenever we had questions or other requests and helped us fall in love with the island. The architectural style is breathtaking, and the highlight was the whirlpool on the terrace. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and were able to simply unwind. Rethymno was a 10-minute drive away, and there we could spend the day in the old town or on the beach. We highly recommend this accommodation. Andreas and Simone

We rented the two-bedroom Villa Erato in Prines. The house is located on a quiet side street where you can easily park. The villa is equipped with all things comfortable, has air conditioning on both floors and is extremely cozy. You can relax very well in the beautifully mature garden and by the pool. On the spacious roof terrace you can enjoy a beautiful sunset with a cold drink. Our host, Mr. Axel Werner, not only gave us a lovely welcome, but was also there to answer any questions or concerns we had. In Prines you can get to know the original Crete and can be on the beach or in Rethymno in about 10 minutes. It was a beautiful vacation.

We had the pleasure of being the first guests ever to visit Arkadi Spa. The furnishings were completely new and the view from the roof terrace was fantastic. From here you can watch the sunset over the sea and relax in the whirlpool at the same time. At the same time, Axel was a great host and always had an open ear, great tips and supported us as best he could. The accommodation is very central in Atsipopoulo - the tavern at the church as well as bakers and food markets are within walking distance. If you want a little more hustle and bustle, you can also get to Rhetymnon very quickly by taxi. All in all a great stay on our Crete trip

The beaches in the area can be easily reached by car within 10 minutes. The city of Rethymno, about 15 minutes away, is a lovely destination - great old town and fortress - absolutely worth seeing! Axel's villa is in a great location, within easy strolling distance from the village with its three tavernas and a couple of shops, and just 15 minutes drive from Rethymno. Because the National Road is just 10 minutes drive away thevilla's central location is perfect for getting to other parts of Crete: Chania just 60 minutes away, Heraklion about 90 minutes and the south coast again about 90 minutes drive. We used the villa as a base for hiking and exploring as well as relaxing. The property is comfortable and well equipped, with a great view from the upstairs patio and a sheltered garden. Rethymno is our favourite Cretan city, with an ideal and compact mix of history, amenities and a long beach.

Axel has been a very welcoming host, the property is just perfect, pretty closed from the city of Rethymnon and the outside of the house is just a small paradise (pool, trees, grass, ...). The property is very well maintained, pool is cleaned several times a week so is the house (once in the middle of our stay). If you look for a place to spend time in family and get away from your stressing life, this is the perfect choice.

Romantic Stone Villa

The two of us spent 10 wonderfully relaxing days in “our” dream stone villa right from the start.
Communication with the landlord was great from booking to the end of the holiday! Direct & quick answers as you wish.
The stone villa is pleasantly cool during the day (mid-June) and enchants with its wonderful ambience. Starting with the wonderful view of the sea, the mountains during the day and a fantastic sunset in the evening. As soon as the sun has set, the small light accents in the house, at the house and at the pool come into their own in a romantic way (the photos here are super beautiful... but in reality it is even more beautiful :-). What is not really clear from the photos is that no one can see into the garden or into the villa.
The villa's facilities are top! We didn't lack for anything! From the high-quality furniture to the many small "goodies" that contribute to the comfort (such as books, travel guides, maps, CDs, charcoal grill, chessboard, water toys, hairdryer, candles, etc.). The mattresses on the beds are very hard after a first seat test, but we unexpectedly slept super relaxed on them. The villa has absolutely German comfort. From the water pressure to the satellite system, which reproduced a perfect image even during a minor storm. Our daily pool cleaning took place very discreetly in the morning hours.
The village center of Prines is within walking distance and, in addition to a few small grocery stores, taverns, bakeries, etc., also offers a really cute village cafe "the olive". We would only like to mention the friendliness of the Cretans in passing. Despite the easy accessibility, we would recommend a rental car as Crete offers many beautiful excursion destinations.
We would recommend the stone villa to anyone who needs pure relaxation and peace from day one :-)

Unforgettable family vacation in Crete

Our family spent 12 days on holiday at Villa Olympia in June this year. It was our first vacation in Greece and we loved it. The weather was ideal in June: not too hot, blue skies and bright sunshine every day. We were able to combine everything perfectly: the beach, swimming pool and relaxation and, on the other hand, an active holiday, which included visits to museums (Knossos) as well as our hike in the Samaria Gorge, the longest gorge in Europe. In the morning we jogged in the area and my husband went to training sessions three times with the racing bike and the owner of the villa, Axel Werner. Our two children enjoyed the swimming pool every day and were difficult to motivate to leave the holiday home or the swimming pool. The description of the holiday home on FeWo was correct, although the beautiful sea view on site is even more beautiful. The owner was very nice and we were able to establish personal contact. We will definitely come back, maybe as early as 2016!

Super Weather - Dream Location - Stylish Villa

We had a wonderful time with lovely spring temperatures that reminded us of summer temperatures back home! The location of the holiday home is fantastic with a sunset from the veranda that we have only experienced in Santorini. Quiet village atmosphere, but in just a few minutes you can be in the tourist hustle and bustle of Rethymno if you want and the beautiful sandy beaches are also only a few minutes away by car. Due to its traditional construction, the villa has a very pleasant living atmosphere, which we enjoyed very much. The information in the advertisement corresponded to reality, although the view from the veranda was much more beautiful than shown in the photos. The contact with the landlord was German-speaking and very professional and yet friendly and personal from the time of our inquiry to our departure. We'd love to come back! We can especially recommend the time in spring! The island is blooming and the climatic conditions are reminiscent of our summer!

This year we spent our Easter on the Greek island of Crete in the beautiful Villa Erato near Rethymno. The weather was already pleasantly warm and the children were able to look for Easter eggs in the garden. The location of the holiday home is beautifully situated on a peak at 200m altitude with a breathtaking view of the sea and the still snow-covered 2,400m high mountains. In the village we were able to go shopping on foot and eat in the small taverns in the evening. We really liked the village atmosphere and we were also able to enjoy the tourism in Rethymno, where we were within 10 minutes. The holiday home was extremely comfortable and we didn't miss anything. The landlord gave us a very friendly welcome in German and gave us lots of travel tips. We would be happy to come back next year, maybe as early as Easter....

In the second half of October we spent our autumn vacation at Villa Erato. The weather was beautiful and thanks to our holiday accommodation we had a very relaxing holiday. The children had fun at the swimming pool and hardly wanted to leave the house. The beaches could be reached in a few minutes by car, as could the city of Rethymnon. You could buy groceries in town and dine comfortably in the two taverns in the evening. The holiday home corresponded to the descriptions on FEWO and the view of the sea was phenomenal. We spent a wonderful and unforgettable "summer vacation" and became friends with the landlords, who looked after us very well in perfect German. We would be happy to come back to Crete next year to our stone villa Erato!

Villa with breathtaking sea views

The reception was very friendly, personal and with a fruit bowl and wine. We immediately felt at home in the tastefully furnished stone villa with 50 cm thick natural stone walls! The holiday home was clean and was cleaned several times, as was the beautiful pool. The large terrace offers breathtaking views over the hillside to the sea. The holiday home is in a quiet location, surrounded by other villas. You feel like you are in the middle of nature and often only hear birds. We were often able to observe circling birds of prey. If you have a car, it's 15 minutes to the historic Venetian old town of Rethymnon or to a beautiful beach that can easily be found to the west. The stay was rounded off with several jogging sessions with the landlord Axel and a visit to the landlord's family. The only thing we would have liked was slatted frames in the beds, but we haven't been able to enjoy them on five Crete vacations so far. We will certainly travel to this great holiday home again.

In April we spent 4 weeks with our family and friends at Stone Castle Arkadi. Everyone was fascinated by the house: an authentic atmosphere, a large terrace with sea and mountain views, here you can relax in the morning sun and have breakfast and on the second terrace you can enjoy the evening hours. If we needed anything we could contact the friendly owner. He immediately took care of our concerns. The location: Very good and central in a quiet village near Rethymnon, an hour to Chania and 75 minutes to Heraklion. We would love to spend our vacation here again!!!
